      Driver of stolen vehichle runs into tree

      51-year-old Geraldine Pittman is charged with theft by receiving stolen property.
      Lowndes County Sheriff's officials have made two arrests with a third pending after a Toyota Tacoma without a license plate crashes into a tree.Officers say that around 9:00 a.m. Sunday, a uniform patrol deputy noticed the Tacoma without the plate traveling on West Hill Avenue and attempted to stop the vehicle.However, the driver fled east on Hill Avenue at speeds around eighty miles per hour according to officers. The vehicle then entered the construction zone on West Hill Avenue and eventually left the roadway and lostcontrol crashing into a tree.Investigators say that the driver and one of the two vehicle passengers fled the vehicle on foot but were soon apprehended. They say that the driver has been identified as 42-year-old Don Juan Richardson while the passenger who fled the scene was was 51-year-old Geraldine Pittman.Officers say while searching Richardson, several capsules of Vyvance were located in his pocket.Officials say that a second passenger who did not flee was transported to South Georgia Medical Center for injuries sustained in the crash. Her identity has not been released yet.Deputies say that during investigation, they learned that the pickup truck had been stolen from a residence on Iola Drive in Valdosta.Richardson faces charges of theft by receiving stolen property, violation of Georgia's Controlled Substance Act, obstruction of an officer, fleeing and attempting to elude and various traffic offenses.
