Krack says the company who owns the building is working with a private contractor to take over the facility and possibly keep Post Office boxes in the location.

Frances Krack, the manager over the Griggs Building where the downtown Albany Post Office is housed, says the building's contract with the U.S. Postal Service has been extended for three months.

The U.S.P.S. lease was supposed to expire June 1st. However, with the new extension, the lease will end at the close of September.

Krack says the company who owns the building is working with a private contractor to take over the facility and possibly keep Post Office boxes in the location.

"We do have a private contractor that is very strong and financially strong and very willing to continue the same business and the same program here," said Frances Krack.

She says the contract with United States Postal Service has been extended because the postal service is currently mailing out surveys for post office box holders to fill out.
