Downtown library turns to next chapter of renovation
The Dougherty County Public Library is one step closer to being complete after the Library Board of Trustees met Monday evening to discuss renovations.
Members say after the county commission approved the budget using SPLOST funding, they then had to figure out how to acquire the furniture, fixtures and equipment and voted to use state contracts.
"Somebody's got to take that huge list and get the stuff so you either do it yourself or you bid it on state contracts, where people are already signed up, they're already approved," said Library Board Chair Walter Kelley.
The board also voted to use the current architect company as the overseer of the project to place all orders and make sure they're installed and placed properly for the tentative soft opening date in January.
