In our Good News of the Day, a locally owned alterations shop is the Downtown Merchants Association Business of the Quarter.

Co-owner Gail Morrill says Gabe's holiday-themed "Winter Wonderland" window display and personalized customer service helped the store win the Business of the Quarter award. Morrill says Gabe's also tries to collaborate with other Downtown Albany businesses to help each other out.

"Well I was very surprised. I didn't even realize anything like that existed, and I was leaving our last meeting and they said 'Oh Gail we need you to stay for one more minute of business' and they presented us with that certificate. I was pleased like a little girl got an A on her report card," says Morrill.

She says her Broad Avenue store works a lot with brides and pageant participants but she says they will do alterations for anyone.

Morrill and Gwen Davis opened Gabe's in March of last year.
