      Downed trees and power outages blanket Albany

      Cleanup crews arrive on Vanderbilt Road to clean up.

      Strong winds left many in Dougherty County without power Friday night.

      Harry James, a homeowner on Vanderbilt Road, said he was out to dinner when he got a call from his son.

      He was informed that a tree had fallen outside his home, blocking the road in the 4000 block of Vanderbilt Road. HIs power was also out.

      This happened around 8:15 p.m.

      FOX 31 arrived on scene at 9:15 p.m. and noticed a Dougherty County Public Works vehicle blocking the tree.

      Harry James and his wife were flashing flashlights to alert drivers that the road was blocked.

      A Public Works tractor made it to the area just after 10:00 p.m.

      The tree was cleared from the road within ten minutes and crews were off to another scene for cleanup.

      Vanderbilt Road had one tree down, Mud Creek Road had one tree down and three trees were down on Leary Highway. These trees were cleaned up by 10:30 p.m.

      Crews were still working on fallen trees on Virginia Avenue and Roxana Street.

      Public works officials said there were multiple power outages throughout the county.
