Around 1:06 Thursday morning, Douglas police responded to an armed robbery call at the Flash Foods on 441 North in Douglas.
Shortly after the robbery, officers already in the area performed a traffic stop on a black Dodge convertible coming from the scene of the robbery. When the officers asked if the passenger and driver had any involvements in the robbery, the passenger jumped out of the car.
The passenger began running and exchanged gunfire with the officer. One officer was hit in the leg and had to be airlifted to a Savannah medical center. He's in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery.
The driver of the black Dodge convertible was apprehended and is now being questioned by Coffee County law enforcement. The passenger is still at large and police have setup a perimeter looking for the black male.
