The Dougherty County School System has voted to reassign Dougherty High Principal Dr. Ryan Gravitt just months after he was hired.
Dr. Gravitt's appointment to the position was announced over the summer as he prepared to begin the position in August. He was an outside candidate who previously held the position of principal at Tift County High, but was placed on administrative leave in November of 2012 and later resigned from the job.
The details surrounding Dr. Gravitt's administrative leave have never been released and many Dougherty County residents came out to support his hiring as he announced his vision for Dougherty High in July.
Also during the meeting, the Dougherty County School Board voted to instate Dr. Robert McIntosh, who currently works within the school system coaching principals, as interim principal of the school.
Dr. Mosely says the move was at the request of Dr. Gravitt who came to him this week stating stress and health issues are the cause.
FOX 31 is working to gather more details surrounding Dr. Gravitt's reassignment and will provide updates as they're released.
