Game balls are an honor usually reserved for star athletes, but this morning, it was local teachers who were celebrated with the award usually bestowed upon those who excel on the courts and fields.
Three Dougherty County teachers were awarded the "Winner in the Classroom Game Ball" for their outstanding achievement in the classroom.
Tammy Holton of Westover High School, Jasmine Dixon of Albany Middle School and Chassidy Vaughn of West Town Elementary all received the honor.
This was the inaugural run for the presentation of the award, and each educator was pleased to have been recognized for their hard work and the hard work of their students.
"Great teachers are people who are passionate about what they do," said Dixon. "They work very hard to not only make sure students exceed - but to make sure they exceed as well."
"A good teacher is one that continues to have passion, and that continues to have enthusiam, and tries to make each day a new experience for their students," said Holton.
"To be able to connect with them and let them know that they really mean something to you and they're like your own children," added Vaughn, "once you're able to do that...then everything happens from there."
