The Dougherty County Finance Committee had their first meeting of the new year Monday, and continued their analysis of the different departments throughout the county.

The committee has been going through each department's budget in an effort to reduce waste spending.

Monday, the committee reviewed the "County Extension" program and their budget, which Chairman and county commissioner, Lamar Hudgins said was an extremely productive review.

"Their presentation was great, and this is just an effort we as the finance committee have been working on since August to reduce spending throughout the county," said Hudgens.

The committee says they will be continuing these budget evaluations throughout the first half of 2013, and are hoping it will prove beneficial to county government as a whole and the community.
