Dougherty County election officials prepare for general primary runoff early voting
Advanced voting for the general primary runoff is less than a month away.
According to Dougherty County election officials, early voting will be available Monday through Friday during the three weeks leading up to the election.
Election Supervisor Ginger Nickerson says that voters must select either a Republican or Democratic ballot based on who they chose in the May primary.
Those who chose non-partisan ballots back in May will not have the opportunity to vote in the runoff.
If you did not vote in the May election, you can still participate in the election. Although, you must chose either a Democratic or Republican ballot.
The runoff will be held on Tuesday, July 24th.
"That is the mandated date state-wide of course. There's no weekend voting in a runoff election and our office will be closed for observance of the Independence Day so July 4th, our office will be closed but will reopen the next day," said Nickerson.
Early voting will begin on July 2nd and end on July 20th.
According to Nickerson, if you are a first time voter in Georgia, you have until June 25th to register for the runoff.
All early voting will take place in the Elections Office, room 220 at the Government Center from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m..
