Dougherty County District Attorney discusses budget with finance committee

The Dougherty County Board of Commissioners Finance Committee met with District Attorney Greg Edwards to talk about his office's budget on Monday morning.

Edwards says there are changes made in legislation that will affect DA offices statewide so it's important to update the committee on each line in the budget.

One of his concerns surrounds changes made in Georgia to Accountability Courts that will require additional personnel.

Edwards says there is an Accountability Court in the county and in order to lessen the jail population like the state is trying, they will need to budget for additional employees.

Edwards says his office has made cuts everywhere they can and hopes they will have financial assistance if they hire additional personnel.
