Volunteers from Georgia Power joined with the Second Harvest Food Bank of South Georgia Monday filling pantry boxes for in-need families.
The boxes will be distributed throughout several cities and counties at no charge to those receiving them.
Executive Director, Jim Case, expressed how important volunteer efforts are, especially on a day honoring Martin Luther King Jr.
"The theme of today is, what are you doing for others? That's what Martin Luther King believed in, doing things for others. And so it really was a wonderful opportunity for us to have a group want to do something, and from here it grew into this wonderful event," said Case.
The event lasted from 8:30 AM to noon and officials say it's something they look forward to continuing in the coming years.Stay connected to MySouthWestGA.com as stories develop and the FOX 31 Newscast at 10 PM. Visit us on Facebook and Twitter to join in on the conversation and connect with FOX 31!
