The effects of allegations against Atlanta pastor Bishop Eddie Long are stretching further than his church.
The goal of most churches is to spread the message and attract new members. Clergymen in Albany say when scandals like this happen, it makes it whole lot harder to do that.
"I think any kind of scandal in the church always impacts the church as far as those outside of the church are concerned," said Pastor Billy Hanna of First Free Will Baptist Church. "Because there are so many people that don't have a favorable opinion of the church, that they are just looking for something."
"There is certainly a stigma involved with all the accusations," said Father Stephen Pontzer of Saint Teresa's Catholic Church.
Pastors and priests these scandals just get magnified when it involves well known church figures, like Bishop Long.
