In honor of National Senior Citizen Day, Century Pines invited a local doctor to speak to their residents and give tips on how to stay healthy Wednesday afternoon.
Dr. Charlie Rouse talked about how important it is to take care of yourself as you age, which can be done by following some unique habits like drinking undistilled apple cider vinegar.
"It's like an apple a day, and just a spoonful of apple cider vinegar helps heartburn, arthritis and makes the mind sharper," said Dr. Rouse.
For restless sleep, Dr. Rouse says three to four vanilla wafers will do the trick. If you want to avoid taking fish oil pills which are known to taste bad, he recommends eating around six walnuts a day.
The longtime doctor says our senior citizens are extremely important because they pass the baton on to each generation who is responsible for carrying that wisdom forward.
