DoCo Police Dept. host National Night Out
ALBANY, Ga. —
People in Dougherty County had a chance to get to know the officers in town.
The Dougherty County Police Department hosted their annual National Night Out. They’ve hosted this event for more than 10 years.
The department gave away school supplies to help kids start school.
Officers said this is a great time for the department to connect and engage with the community.
“We want people to realize that we’re no different than they are,” Captain Tom Jackson said. “Most of us were born in this community, and we now work in this community. We try to provide safety to the community, and that’s the same thing we want as everybody else does. We want the public to feel like they can come to us, and approach us because we’re approachable.”
If you missed this event, and want a chance to hang with local officers, the Albany Police Department will be having their National Night Out at Thornton’s gym from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1.
