The search committee for Dougherty County's new library director narrowed down the list of candidates from 21 to six, and presented those people to the Library Board of Trustees on Tuesday evening.

Members initially hoped bring that number down to three but settled on interviewing six in the near future, though they've already started some of the process for the job they say will have a salary of $65-80,000 dollars.

"We've already checked their references or they wouldn't have made it to the top 6, and when that is done, then we'll narrow it down to three at which point then we can tell you who they are" said board chair Walter Kelley.

Board members say the national search for the new director may have brought in some candidates from far away that they'll have to fly in for interviews, so they expect the process to take about 6 weeks.
