A possible partnership with Lee County could bring some extra cash to Dougherty County.

On Monday, Lee County proposed to the Dougherty County Public Works Committee that they would like Dougherty County to accept between 500 and 700 tons of sludge on an annual basis that would generate about $34,000 of additional revenue for the landfill in Dougherty County.

Committee chairman John Hayes says the proposal might be a good thing for the county.

"This is something that appears to be good for Dougherty County and as we embrace the whole matter and, we've been good neighbors to Lee County and we think this is good for us."

The request will now go to the full commission at the next work session meeting.
