Albany officials are steadily working to rid the city of dilapidated structures.
The old Shoney's restaurant off of Oglethorpe Boulevard has been demolished.
The structure burned down last March and has been sitting vacant since then.
Officials say crews began demolition on the structure last week.
Developers are now in the process of removing leftover debris and underground pipes.
Commissioner Jon Howard says after this is done, the plan is to level the ground and place the land back on the tax rolls.
