Depression can rise during the holiday season
ALBANY, Ga. —
The holidays are a time where more people become depressed, and it can potentially lead to suicide.
Counselor Andy Martin says people can sometimes feel like they didn’t accomplish what they should have by now.
Loosing loved ones or painful memories from the past can also be a trigger for depression during the holidays.
Martin says people can feel disconnected if they believe others are connected and they aren’t.
“They don’t have close relationships,” he said. “They can’t afford to buy thirty dollars presents for five people on their list. Those kinds of things can bring up feelings of inadequacy.
If you’re feeling depressed, you should talk to a professional or someone that you know and trust.
