DCSS teachers make slam dunk in the classroom
The final Game Ball Awards of the 2013-2014 school year have been awarded to three teachers in the Dougherty County School System.
Superintendent David Mosely showed up to each school to surprise the award winners in the classroom. Mosely, in addition to serving as superintendent for six school districts, is a former basketball coach. The game ball is awarded to teachers who stood out above others much like the game ball given to basketball players on the court.
The winners are Dr. Ethelene Kimber of Robert Cross Middle Magnet School, Miesha Atkins of Monroe Comprehensive High School and Amber Davis at International Studies Elementary Charter School.
We caught up with Davis this morning as she was given the award.
"I teach so that I can see the students grow and become as strong of readers as they can be so I just want them to have success for the future," Davis said.
This "Winner in the Classroom" recognition began in February.
