DCSS students get a new ride

Jack Willis with DCSS says some of the school systems buses are old and outdated and need to be replaced. / File

Students who attend schools within the Dougherty County School System could riding in brand new buses next month.

Jack Willis with DCSS says some of the school systems buses are old and outdated and need to be replaced. Willis says they've ordered five new buses and they should be in service sometime next month.

He hopes that the school system will actually be able to purchase a few more buses; he says some of the old ones really need to be taken out of circulation. Willis says they won't be looking to hire any new bus drivers because these new buses will completely replace the old ones.

Willis also told FOX 31 the new buses will have no effect on bus stops, those will remain the same.
