The Dougherty County School System is one step closer to purchasing new police vehicles.
The DCSS Finance and Personnel Committee met Tuesday morning to discuss the changes and approve several purchases.
Committee member Carol Tharin says the new vehicles are "desperately needed."
This has been a year-long discussion and the committee approved the purchase to be sent to the school board.
The Committee says they will save a little more than $50,000 total purchasing the cars here in Albany rather than from a state contractor.
