The Dougherty County School System with help from the Georgia School Board Association has officially posted their application for the next superintendent.
Under preferred qualifications the very first item is high standards of ethical and moral conduct. Bill Sampson with GSBA says they do background checks on every finalist for the position and besides just that, they do extensive reference checks.
Sampson says they'll talk to colleagues, friends, coworkers, and everyone else they need to talk to to get a good feel for the applicant.
Also on the list of preferred qualifications are experience as a teacher, principal, and of course as a superintendent. They would prefer if the next superintendent has a doctorate degree but that's not a requirement.
Those interested can submit an application on the GSBA website until January 24th.
