DCSS awarded more than $900K for technology upgrades
The Dougherty County School System now has almost $1 million to make some big upgrades in the classroom for its students.
DCSS just received a Technology Tools for Teachers Grant worth $902,000 from the One Georgia Authority and Governor's Office of Student Achievement.
That money will help support their classroom technology initiatives, according DCSS Public Information Officer J.D. Sumner; for example, some schools will be able to replace their older SMART boards.
"It'll help our dollars go a little bit further in some of our schools where they have those needs to replace equipment or to get additional supplies and equipment," Sumner said.
Sumner added that all DCSS schools currently have a one-to-one ratio of students to devices like computers and tablets in the classroom.
