DCP unveils plaque to honor fallen officer
Mon, 13 May 2013 17:17:55 GMT —
DCP ceremony the Dougherty County Police Department unveiled a plaque next to the station's front door in honor of fallen officer Lieutenant Cliff Rouse on Monday afternoon.
Lieutenant Rouse was fatally shot on December 23rd, 2010 while chasing an armed robbery suspect and officials say they made a promise that day to do everything in their power to remember the officer since he passed away.
Rouse's mother Jackie says the department has been there for her family since that day and having this plaque on the building is an overwhelming show of support for her son.
Rouse says her son was a family man but when he put on that uniform he became an officer and he was proud to be one.
Officials say the plaque will represent Rouse's sacrifice but will also stand over and guard those officers who leave the station every day to protect and serve the community.
