Dawson Mayor Elect Chris Wright, the Terrell County High School Class of 2008, Street Phantoms Motorcycle Club, Second Harvest and local businesses teamed up with Oak Haven Retirement Community to make Thanksgiving possible to those in need.

The organizations started on Wednesday morning with a clothing giveaway before serving over 7-800 packaged meals to those who are struggling.

Organizers say you never know when you'll be the one in need so it is important to help those who need and give back.

Those who came out not only received a meal but were also able to take home a care package of non-perishable food items.

Wright says over 10,000 lbs. of canned goods were donated to turn into take-home packages for those who need it.

The entire day was made possible by donations from the public and organizers are hoping to serve around 2,000 people throughout the day.
