Crisp County honors Sheriff one last time
At least a thousand people turned out this afternoon to honor Crisp County Sheriff Donnie Haralson one last time.
Governor Nathan Deal sent Harrison Blackwell to speak at Haralson's service.
Representatives of the Sheriff's Association of Georgia also attended.
"Sheriff Donnie Haralson was a lot of our mentors. He was our friend. He was our leader in this community. He was a leader in this state and we going to miss him," said Sheriff Bobby McClemore, President of the Georgia Sheriff's Association.
Haralson passed away Tuesday after a decade long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Slade Haralson, his two daughters, and many more family members.
"Everybody keeps coming up to me and their words are fairness, fairness. I have heard that from every single person I spoke with and what a great testimony," said Angie Ellis, Sheriff Donnie Haralson's Sister-In-Law.
Angie Ellis says it's touching to know how much he means to the people in our area.
