Crisp County Fire Dept. gives free smoke detectors right before Daylight Saving ends
CORDELE, Ga. —
If you're still upset about losing that hour of sleep in March, here is your chance for redemption.
We all get an extra hour of sleep this weekend because Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday. Every little bit counts, so don't forget to set your clock back an hour.
This is also a great time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.
The Crisp County Fire Department has been going door to door for weeks asking people if they have a smoke detector in their home. If they didn’t have one, firefighters will give them one for free and install it for them.
They’ve already given out hundreds of smoke detectors and only have 50 left to give.
“We went through four different neighborhoods on four different Saturdays,” Fire Chief Jonathan Windham said. “We ended up installing more than 250. We call it a win win, and hopefully we can save some lives with it.”
