Crisp County officials are gearing up for a community event geared towards child safety.
There are many adults across Southwest Georgia that have children and don't know how to properly restrain them in the car.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Crisp County officials will be at Watermelon Park behind the hospital to educate the community on child safety restraints.
There will be safety seat instructions and demonstrations available for children of all ages.
Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock says, "we don't want an accident to occur and that seat go flying inside the car or out of the car for that matter if the windows are down. We don't want that seat to stay in place and the child be thrown either. These seats, if used properly, save lives."
