Crisp County brings over 80 charges for financial thefts

A Florida Man and Alabama woman are behind the bars of the Crisp County jail after a racking up over 40 criminal charges in a four-state crime spree.
Sergeant Ben Bray tells WGXA that on August 15th, deputies with the Criminal Apprehension Team stopped a silver Nissan Maxima on I-75. After further investigation, it was determined that the occupants were up to something illegal.
During the search of the vehicle, deputies found several drivers licenses, credit cards debit cards and social security cards.
The case was the handed over to the Criminal Investigation Division where 16 different victims were found. The city of residence for the victims included Albany, Atlanta, East Point, Woodstock, and Marietta, Georgia along with Denver, Colorado and St. Louis Missouri.
All of the victims had their vehicles broken into at gym parking lots.
Sergeant Bray says that Tonia Gay of Hayneville, Alabama has been charged with speeding, 28 counts of financial transaction card theft, 16 counts of financial identity fraud, and one count of possession of tools for the commission of a crime for having a window punch.
Charged in connection is Jessie Joseph of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Joseph faces 28 counts of financial transaction card theft, 16 counts of financial identity fraud, and one count possession of tools for the commission of a crime for having a window punch.
