Crisp County BOE appoints new high school principal
The Crisp County Board of Education approved the hiring of Russell "Rusty" Sowell as the new high school principal this past week according to the Cordele Dispatch.
With 22 years in education, 14 of them served in administration, Sowell comes with a lot of knowledge and many honors.
Sowell was one of three people nominated for principal of the year in 2012, has led one of his schools to win the Georgia Office of School Achievement's Platinum School Award for greatest gains and also has the State Superintendent's Distinguished Achievement Award in biology and economics.
Sowell told officials he looks forward to working with his new staff to take the high school to the next level.
