The Lee County Sheriff's Office is teaming with Albany Crime Stoppers to get criminals off the street.

Lee County residents can now call into 436-TIPS and possibly receive a reward if an arrest and conviction is made.

This merger between Lee and Dougherty County is an attempt to strengthen the Crime Stoppers coverage area.

Officials say they can do a better job of fighting crime if both counties work together.

"It's had a very good success rate in Albany. It's going to help pay the citizens of Lee County and give them a little incentive to call in with a tip and help us get bad guys behind bars," said Matt Pearce, Deputy Sheriff.

Lee County officials will receive calls for both Lee and Dougherty County.
