On Monday, the Dougherty County Commission approved the bid to accept out-of-county solid waste at the Dougherty County Landfill.
Dougherty County Commissioner John Hayes says the landfill is the county's only free enterprise and it's a self sustaining facility. He adds that this new addition will hopefully enhance revenue for the county.
"This will give us the opportunity to get out into the open market to give others the opportunity to deposit solid waste," says Hayes.
The Dougherty County Commission recently approved the bid to accept sludge from Lee County to bring to the Dougherty County Landfill which will bring between $24,000 to $34,000 of additional revenue for Dougherty County.
