The Albany Police Department is seeing an increase in the usage of counterfeit money.

They say this problem has really increased within the last two weeks.

Corporal George Barber, an investigator with APD, says he encourages all businesses and store owners to be on the lookout for these counterfeit bills.

Barber says they've mostly been seeing counterfeit ten dollar bills, but encourages everyone to be checking all of the bills just incase.

FOX 31 also spoke to a manager of a local gas station who said they've been seeing a lot of counterfeit bills in the past month and they think its becoming a problem in Albany.

Barber also says if you do encounter a counterfeit bill you should immediately report it to the police.
