The Cordele Police Department is searching for an arsonist who set a woman's 15th Avenue house on fire Sunday morning while she was away on vacation.

Officials say Molly Thomas was in New York when a neighbor spotted a bald-headed black man wearing dark clothing and carrying a bag leave her house. The neighbor then spotted smoke, kicked in Thomas' door and realized she wasn't home.

The arsonist reportedly got into the house using a side porch door and set fire to one bed downstairs and two upstairs, but officials don't believe he took anything.

Officials say the home sustained substantial damage during the fire and at least two rooms are completely ruined.

If you have any information on this case, contact the Cordele Police Department or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
