Cooper Tire shutdown deadline nears

Cooper Tire employed 2,100 people including contract workers

Just over a year ago Cooper Tire announced it would close the plant here in Albany, leaving 1,300 unemployed.

The plant is supposed to shut down completely by December 31, but no one at Cooper Tire's corporate office in Findlay, Ohio would return our calls. The security guard at the Albany plant told us every one still working at the plant on the transition team is out of the office for the holiday and will return on Monday.

Including contract workers, Cooper Tire employed 2,100 people in Albany.
