Convicted murderer seeks new trial
A man convicted of a 1994 rape and murder is asking for a new trial.
Marcus Ray Johnson entered a Dougherty County court Thursday morning.
Dougherty County District Attorney Greg Edwards says Johnson's defense argued that they have more evidence to present.
A judge will allow the evidence come forward at a later date.
Johnson was granted a stay of in 2011 after being sentenced to death by lethal injection.
He was convicted in the death of Angela Sizemore.
No date has been set for when Johnson will make another court appearance.
