If you noticed police cars outside the North Slappey Boulevard McDonalds Friday morning, do not worry, they were there for Coffee with a Cop.

This national initiative made its debut in Albany to give people an opportunity to meet local officers, build relationships and discuss community issues in a relaxed space.

"A lot of times barriers are created, officers are in their car and a lot of time people only see an officer in an emergency situation and that is not the time to sit and talk about community issues," said Phyllis Banks, Public Relations-Media Manager with the Albany Police Department.

The Albany Police Department, the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit, Code Enforcement and 311 were on hand to chat and answer questions.

A second Coffee with a Cop will be held Friday, July 26th at the McDonald's located at 1003 South Slappey Boulevard and a third event will be held August 1st a the McDonald's located at 1632 East Oglethorpe Boulevard.
