Saturday the Southwest Georgia Sons of Confederate Veterans held a special event. They paid tribute to veterans who served the confederate states from 1861 through 1865.
According to Past Commander, James W. King, nearly 1,000,000 soldiers severed for the Confederacy. There are currently 11 camps in Southwest Georgia. King says Saturday was special.
"There were about 258,000 casualties on the Confederate side, and 100,000 more, about 358,000 on the Union side. The Confederate solider was really fighting to try to preserve the principles that America was founded on."
