Commissioners order judiciary review of fire chief

Worth County Fire and Rescue employees will be subpoenaed pending a judiciary review of Chief Jason Brooks

Worth County Commissioners have called for a judiciary review regarding complaints from Fire and Rescue employees about Fire Chief Jason Brooks.

FOX 31 attended a Worth County Board of Commission special called meeting to speak with commissioners about their stance on the fire department employees seeking disciplinary action against Brooks. Employees say Brooks's attitude has driven away more than 100 volunteer firefighters and that he allegedly drank alcohol in the fire chief truck.

As the meeting began at 6 p.m., commissioners immediately went into executive session to discuss personnel, which lasted for hours.

Commissioners say there will be a judiciary review regarding Brooks. Full-time, part-time and volunteer fire department employees who attended a June 30th Board of Commission meeting â" where fire employees initially approached commissioners about their concerns with Brooks â" will be subpoenaed.

FOX 31 will continue to follow this story as it develops. Stay connected to details on FOX 31 News and our website,

FOX 31 originally received dozens of emails from fire employees with their concerns about Brooks. In their emails they say they were disappointed with the Board's lack of action on the matter. See the original story here.
