Commission wants thumb on pulse of library board
Dougherty County Commissioner Lamar Hudgins says it would be a good idea to have a commissioner sitting on the library board.
Hudgins, who also sits on the Economic Development Commission, said his constituents ask questions about the library board that he cannot answer.
He believes having a commissioner on the board would improve communication and understanding of the library board's inner workings and ideas.
Recently, the board came under fire for not notifying the commission about the decision to close two of its branches due to budget cuts, which triggered a backlash among library supporters in the community.
