Just after 7 a.m. Monday, two cars collided in the 500 block of Sardis Church Road in Moultrie, leaving one woman dead and others injured as a result of the accident.
Investigators believe a car crossed over into oncoming traffic at high speeds, but have not determined why.
The deceased was identified as a female, but an age and name have not yet been released.
The injured victims were airlifted to separate hospitals and are now in stable condition, one of which was a two-month-old infant.
The accident shut down traffic temporarily but the road was re-opened around 10 a.m.
Police do not believe that alcohol played a role, but say that a blood test will be performed.
The investigation has been handed off to the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Unit.
