Coffee County officials say they responded to a call regarding a possible drowning around 7 p.m. Sunday night.
When officers got to the seen a witness told them she wasn't outside at the time of the accident but the victim, Gregory Scott Burch, was at their house to grill with them and go swimming.
Burch reportedly went for a ride with a friend on a Jet Ski and both fell off the vehicle, causing him to be submerged under water.
Officials say Burch was unable to swim prior to the incident which is what they believe caused him to drown.
Coffee County fire officials sent a dive team to the scene, but by the time they found Burch, it was too late.
The Department of Natural Resources is continuing to investigate the incident.
