City to decide to send Sunday alcohol sales referendum to voters

Voters may get the chance to decide whether or not they want to buy alcohol on Sundays

The city commission will vote Tuesday night on whether folks should vote on the matter of Sunday alcohol sales.

It's been a hot button issue for some time now.

We spoke with the manager of the Warehouse Package Store on Pine Avenue about what he thinks of the possibility of it becoming a law.

"We've been in business probably over 25 years and we've always been opposed to Sunday alcohol sales because we don't feel like it's gonna add any extra business to us. It's just gonna make our expenses more, having to open an extra day," said manager Louis Bernard.

If commissioners vote yes Tuesday night, a referendum will be sent to the voters.

If passed, folks would be able to purchase alcohol in stores on Sundays between 2 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.
