Wed, 19 Sep 2012 15:50:00 GMT — The Albany City Commission is considering a new curfew specifically for special downtown events. The new curfew would begin at 6 PM and run to midnight and would require anyone under the age of 21 to be accompanied by a parent. This is in direct response to the outburst that happened at the city's Fourth of July event.Albany Police Chief John Proctor says the case there was that many parents came from surrounding areas, dropped off their children and then left. However commissioners questioned the age limit-saying it would prevent local college students from coming to events who may be here without family in the vicinity. The commission will officially vote on the matter at their night meeting September 25.
