City Commission honors firefighters and veterans
After battling multiple fires all day, numerous Albany Firefighters were honored during the City Commission meeting Tuesday evening for their hard work and dedication.
Plaques and medals were handed out to firefighters and EMS workers who went above the line of duty this year.
Following the presentation, commissioners then voted to officially honor another group by approving a World War II memorial at the Veteran's Amphitheatre, scheduled to be completed before Veteran's Day on November 11th.
The commission then closed the meeting by passing a motion to complete construction on the new senior center by the SOWEGA Council on Aging using SPLOST money.
