Citizen's tips and window tint help make Lowndes County arrest

Lowndes County Sheriff's Office officials say that after receiving citizen tips, investigators from the Special Operations Division of the Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop that led to the discovery of a quantity of marijuana and the arrest of 55-year-old Jeffery Carwein.

Officials say that on June 4 investigators observed Carwein leaving his residence after placing packages in the rear of his pickup truck. The investigators noticed that the vehicle had excessively dark window tint and stopped the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle investigators found approximately fifteen pounds of marijuana. The discovery of the marijuana led to the issuance of a search warrant for Carwein's home, located in the 5200 block of Danieli Drive North in Lake Park. A search of the residence resulted in the discovery of an additional twelve pounds of marijuana.

Carwein is facing charges of trafficking marijuana and window tint violation.
