The Citizen's Advisory Committee of Albany-Dougherty County met Monday afternoon to discuss an ongoing issue they've had with model airplanes at Hilsman Park.
Members of the committee decided to recommend to the Albany City Commission the "Park Pilot Program" which is a plan they received from the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
This program states, "Park flyer models will weight two pounds or less and be incapable of reaching speeds greater than 60 mph. They must be electric or rubber powered, or of any similar quiet means of propulsion. Models should be remotely controlled or flown with a control line, remain within the pilot's line of sign at all times, and always be flown safely by the operator."
Due to the small size of the park members of the committee feel this plan is the only fair and safe way to control the issue.
