      Citizen's Academy provides behind the scenes look at police

      Ever wonder how your local police department operates?

      The Albany Police Department is starting up a new session of the Citizen's Police Academy starting on September 17.

      The Academy will be comprised of twelve, two hour sessions with classes beginning at 6:30 p.m.

      Citizens will be given an opportunity to learn about a variety of law enforcement topics.

      Anyone interested in participating in the Albany Police Department's Citizens Police Academy can go to the City's website to pre-register by downloading an application. There are also applications available, from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the front desk at the Law Enforcement Center located at 201 West Oglethorpe Boulevard. The program is free and open to the public.
