A Moultrie church has opened its doors for folks to escape the harsh temperatures.

Greater Newton Grove Cathedral is offering shelter for those looking for a warm place to stay.

Pastor Cornelius Ponder says the church opened its doors early Monday afternoon as temperatures began to drop.

Dinner will be served at 7:30 p.m. and blankets will be passed out for those in need. Ponder says they have tables full of blankets to give away.

Cots have been set out for those staying overnight.

The church will close the shelter at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
